A pretty good trip! Re: In the Olden Days...

Yeah, that ditch in front of Christie West's house was a pretty good brake. On skateboards, too.

Re: In the Olden Days...

I didn't own a sled, needless to say. We had a nice runner sled in Montana, but I think we ditched it, expecting that there wasn't going to be enough snow in WA to use it when we moved. I preferred the toboggan under most conditions, anyway :)

In the Olden Days...

I'm not sure why Tom was out sledding with us, but it's a pretty good sled train. Tom and his daughter in front, Matt behind, then Sam, Jason, me, and Sara. http://www.lightandmatter.org/images/FH000006.jpg http://www.lightandmatter.org/images/FH000007.jpg http://www.lightandmatter.org/images/FH0000...

Incidentally, the photo I posted above is probably the shot that I was taking when you were taking my picture. That's sorta cool, too.

Re: Mt. Pilchuck, last Saturday

Not bad :)

The picture you took of me with your camera is better than the ones you took with mine, I think. Will you email me the full res version of it?

Mt. Pilchuck, last Saturday

I probably went a little overboard with the contrast on this one... it's hard to judge on my useless laptop monitor. The clouds were cool, though.

Some cool shots in there! Looks like you got some beautiful light there in the evening. My favorite shot might actually be the first one in the web gallery... nice composition and some good depth to it. Your shots almost make me foget how much I hate cold weather :) - Matt Incidentally, I glanced at...

Hey, Nice pics! I saw one of those over at pirate4x4, if I'm not mistaken. I can't make any comments about your jeep... I'm driving a honda accord :) Oh, to have my FJ-40 back!

Thanks :) I took another photo at about the same time, but vertical instead of horizontal.... I'm not really sure which one I like better.

Re: First Snowshoeing Expedition

The problem actually isn't the camera, but yes... it's with the camera settings. No matter how new and expensive your camera is, if you point it at a white wall (or field of snow), the camera has no way of knowing whether you're looking at a white wall, or a grey wall in bright light, or a black wal...

Re: First Snowshoeing Expedition

Well, it does look better with auto levels in that image, but that has a tendency to mess up your blacks and greys, too... and just generally make your contrast too high. There's really no automatic way to get things right though, except when you're taking the picture. For those who are curious, her...
