Re: Vehicle recommendation?
Nobody makes a great point, if it's just you it's one thing but if you plan on hauling a wife and kids around then you want a larger starting platform. If you can do fab work options are unlimited, if not then Toyota and Jeep have every part known to man in a bolt on kit.

Re: On-Board Air: York vs Powertank vs ARB
Chris, I will do you one better. I take a spare Bronco for parts most of the time..... Just have to distract Nobody long enough to get what I need.
Seriously if you don't have a York (or other engine driven pump) you are playing with fire.

Re: Trip Report: Mount Dickerman - New Years Day 2014
It was a good time, I was moving slow and did not get too many pictures. I took up a match box Bronco to get a picture to spoof the 15 years of Handover runs but I forgot to get it out

This winter sucks!
Maybe it's just because I am bummed about not having an real snow, no hangover run or just the fact I have not been up in the mountains in sometime.... I started looking at the Mt Rainer site to make myself feel better and there it is, just as bad there! First thing I noticed is that the snow area a...

Re: Costco Winter Gear 2013-2014
Just an FYI, Woodinville Costco does not have any of the Eddie Bauer coats or vests and they only had about 100 of the Kirkland coats and they were all XL, trust me my wife and I looked at all of them.

Re: Costco Winter Gear 2013-2014
Let me know if you go back, I would love one of the Eddie Bauer coats but I won't be at Costco before they are gone. The Kirkland Down Jackets have been reduced again to - $24.97 http://www.snowtrek.org/costco-gear-2013/TN_kirkland-down-jacket-clearance.jpg The First Ascent Down Jackets have been re...

Re: Friggin' Brrrrr...
Is 11° here this morning so I am drinking coffee for a bit before I do anything. Funny though I was talking to some people from Eastern WA last night and at there school they canceled recess because kids get frost bite in about 5 min in 5° weather. Not something I remember as a kid here.

Re: Costco Winter Gear 2013-2014
I bought a set of shovels, it will fit in my pack, it's light and perfect for hiking IMO. Nobody you can have the other one for your pack, for the ankle bitters or for igloo building version 2.0, call it am early x-mas present.

They did clump a bit, but not one huge glob. The guy who pulled the tires off cussed me out because of the "black shit" that got all over him .°-/

Re: Balancing wheels AND tires
I tried bb's in my TSL SX tires a few years back. I did not use anything fancy just plain old bb's and I don't know if it was bent wheels, or of round tires or the bias tires but it did not make any real noticeable difference. I now have radial stampers and no balance seems 100x better than before. ...

Re: Do big lugs really help?
Surface area is important and lug edges to grip in some snow conditions. My big question or concern would be how a retread would handle the flex of airing down to single digits. If they would hold up to that and flexed well, like a radial vs bias, I would be interested.

Re: scout II
These pictures are unfair because he is not always stuck, but when it is stuck there is plenty of time to get pictures! and my back still hurts from pulling him out. I was worse than that one day, had to crawl out the window onto the level of the snow. http://www.snowtrek.org/iron-mountain-1-15-06/i...
