Re: Snow levels

As Goldilocks would say, Hwy 2 is a bit too far south for me and Hwy 542 is a bit far north. Hwy 20 is just right. Maybe I'll just have to drive the back roads to find out for myself. On a similar note, I found this page that has some good info on road conditions/closures. They don't have every FS r...

Re: Snow levels

The SnoTel site seems to be lacking sensors from Hwy 20 south to Mountain Loop Hwy and I5 east to Hwy 530/Moutain Loop Hwy. Bummer :frown: Great work on the Snow Science page, nonetheless. It's a great resource.

Snow levels

For the sake of not wasting time searching the interweb, is there a site, or sites, you guys look to for current snow levels? Maybe different snow levels at different elevations at different places in the Cascades?

Re: Costco Gear 2013

I'm quite certain they are. So, will they replace them with an updated model or bring in some other snow tool/impliment? A little buyers remorse is setting in thinking they will bring in a better model.

Re: Costco Gear 2013

I noticed the shovels were $XX.79. I wonder if this will be it for the season or if they are going to be getting in an improved/updated model?

Re: Costco Gear 2013

thanks for the heads up, Need to get those shovels. Just don't expect too much. I might buy a set for the kids so I don't have to worry about them trashing my voile shovel. LIfeline Shovel Test I appreciate the demonstration of jumping on the shovels but, it doesn't prove anything functional. If on...

What do you use for nav?

Let me know. GPS? Phones? If phones, what is your app of choice? Personally, I have an iPhone 4 and use MotionX-GPS. It seems to work well for what I do. Very easy to create/plan tacks at home on a PC using Google Maps, converting them then importing them to the app. Interested to hear what other pe...

Re: Yukon Charlie's Snowshoes at Costco 2011- 2012

This is an old thread but, I am looking forward to what Costco stocks this coming year. I'd really like to get into snowshoeing. $70 per kit is very doable. Below is all the have online at the moment. I hope they end up getting something in the stores at a lower price point. Baller http://t.costco.c...

Re: Hello from Anacortes.

I heard it was an easy hike too. Yah, I surely wouldn't call it easy. I also, though, wouldn't call it hard. I would still take my two oldest, I would just prepare them for it. Jeeps are great, I just have to root for the home team. ;) To be honest, I've got some skeletons in my closet as it pertai...

Re: Hello from Anacortes.

Welcome back. How was Slide lake? I've heard of it, but never been in there. nice jeep ...(did I say that out loud?) It was well worth the trip. Nice drive up there. The 1.4mi hike in was, largely, enjoyable. A word of caution, the trail signage states that the trail is easy. IMO, easy, it...

Hello from Anacortes.

New-ish to the site. I've lived in Anacortes for a few years but, haven't gotten out much. I love to hike, backpack and wheel, none of which happen any too often. Anyways, looking to get to know a few people in the area to safely explore with. Made my way up to Slide Lake not long ago for some fly f...

Re: New 69 Bronco to Snowtrek.org - Seattle WA is my home ba

Oh sorry, I didn't see your last comment about the tire rubbing until I posted my last comment. You mention standard 3.5 inch offset, which is what I think my 33's are. That being said, when you say my fenders will be in the way, are you referring to the rears only, or both the front and rear? I su...
