Re: Fubars snow jeep build

Looking great! For gears, I feel pretty strongly about gearing to the desired cruising rpm. I prefer Dana/spicer. I've picked up used gear sets the last two times. I prefer used OEM over some of the questionable brands out there these days.

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

I don't think so, Hyak Drive East connects to Nf-9070-120 but i've never been up there in the snow. Took the fam sledding off exit 42 today. Checked out tinkham and loaned a strap to some guys pulling a jeep back out of the ditch on the side of the berm. Then a big jeep and yota made a bit of a sho...

I didn't hear about the Franklin Falls disaster. The berms I see around here aren't to block access, just a result of plowing. Are these obvious intentional barriers?

Wow. Looks awesome. Was the avalanche danger high, or did you see stuff you didn't like?

Welcome to the forum. Thanks for the link. Love the MT photos, great country. Those are some strange cloud formations. I think it was last year that we had a similar persistent temperature inversion in Western Washington.

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

Nothing to hardcore. Just touring around with kids gaining experience. I knew this season my wj would be way over weight for 33'. The early season powder and sugary stuff it did great in. But now as the snows adding up I'm geared to tall to crawl slow enough and to heavy to float. Still did alright...

That looks like a pretty cool road. I like the sign sticking out. Are you usually solo on these trips?

Re: New user from Enumclaw, Wa to Snowtrek.org

Welcome to the forum. I've got a family of five too. The Bronco is getting small quick! Four doors would be very welcome at this point. I've got a V8 Explorer I could build, but I'm not too crazy about those for off-road use.I think at the very least I'm going to have too look into some sort of roof...

Thanks for the education. Not being a skier, I wasn't aware of the conflict. However in my defense, the route is the route in many parts without taking much higher effort lines. I'll certainly be more conscious in the future. I'm always on the wrong side of these conflicts :homer:

Rare ice circle on Snoqualmie river

I've seen videos of these ice circles before, but never heard of one around here. https://vimeo.com/198519875 http://q13fox.com/2017/01/07/rare-ice-circle-forms-in-the-snoqualmie-river-video/ NORTH BEND, Wash. -- Hikers near North Bend were treated to an unusual natural phenomenon this morning -- an...

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

You've got the right idea. So many people are unwilling to adjust air pressure to conditions. Sometimes theres just nothing that works. I suspect the best purpose built snow wheeling rigs wouldn't have made it much further than you, unless they were light enough to not break through the crust.

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

Nice! You were buried. I suspected it was going to be pretty tough out there. I was actually surprised how much the snow had already compacted on Pilchuck. Once things firm up a bit, we should be good!

Did you lose a bead, or were you just aired down that low?

Trip Report: Snowshoeing Mount Pilchuck - January 7, 2017

Yesterday we got a wild hare and decided to do some snowshoeing on Mount Pilchuck. Steve's new truck broke down as we were about leave :finger: , so we jumped in my 315k mile pile and limped up to the gate at the Heather Lake trailhead. Running a little behind schedule, we left at 7:15am and headed ...
