Re: Urban Wheeling

You're lucky. All we've gotten on the lowland this year is a light dusting. :frown: Sounds like good times!

I'm hoping the weather turns after the new year. Looks like there's been some light accumulation this week in the mountains.

Snowmobile passenger sleigh

Just stumbled across this equinox passenger sleigh at costco. I never knew anything like this existed.
I think I might know how to talk my wife into a snowmobile now!

Re: Snowshoes at Costco

I just discovered that costco.ca carries a couple higher end showshoes. It appears that costco.com has dropped all snowshoes from their site. Wonder if they'll get them back? http://www.costco.ca/Common/Category.aspx?whse=BCCA&Ne=4000000&eCat=BCCA|111|22109&N=4009793&Nr=P_CatalogName...

Avalanche Safety

This is a pretty good Avalanche Safety presentation. http://www.nwac.us/media/uploads/documents/tutorial/tutorial.swf The Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center has a page where staff and others can submit avalanche photos each season. Check it out. http://www.nwac.us/photos/view/avalanches/current/...

Re: Well looks like I will be posting here now!

Nice.... Santa brought me some snow shoes as well. However mine are different than yours. Mine are the Yukon Charlies "Pro Guide V" series. I guess they sent the wrong ones. Sara said they showed up with no trekking poles or bag. She had to call and have those items sent. No gators either ...

Who's going snow wheelin New Years Day?

It's a long standing tradition that I go snow wheelin New Years day. Often referred to as the "Hangover Run". About 15-20 years ago there used to be one big organized hangover run in our area. Now there are so many people out that day that we pretty much do our own thing. Otherwise it just...

Trip Report: Snow wheelin 12-19-2009

Went out to do a little snow wheelin yesterday. Haven't gotten any significant snow accumulation since we were last out a month ago. It was pretty much like wheelin in the spring time. Even though though there wasn't much snow, it was still fun to get out. No one else had been up there since our las...

Re: 12-5-09 christmas tree run

Great pictures. Looks like you found some nice trees. That could be an outstanding play area with about 4 feet of snow. Good thing you got your bronco back together. Now we just have to do the snow dance! Thanks for the trip report!

So does that mean you had to do all the fish mouths, or just cut the legs of the pillars?

Re: subaru with tracks

We saw a suburban with the mattracks on a wheelin trip a couple years ago. Didn't really get to see it in action, but they were using it for shuttling skiers up the mountain. Kind of a sore subject as they closed off area to public use :frown: I've seen plans for homemade tracks. Might be fun to try...

Re: Who has a GPS?

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like a pretty nice GPS. Do the maps include arial photos? Does it show a lot of logging road spurs? I think I'd be more in the market for something handheld that I can take on hikes and lock it up easily. I just starting looking. Didn't realize they were still so expen...

Who has a GPS? Are there monthly/annual fees? What are the must have features? I'd be mostly into using it for offroad travel/elevation.

Mountain Springs Lodge

Anyone ever stay at Mountain Springs Lodge in Leavenworth, wa. Or someplace similar? They have guided snowmobile tours. Looks like it could be a nice getaway.
