Re: Mattracks vs Tires

My neighbor has a set he puts on his side by side in the winter. No doubt they can go like crazy. But it can be a real pain if he gets stuck and spits a track off...

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2017/2018

Finally! Spring is here so we managed to get out for our first ride. Temps were in the 60s today. Pics were taken a couple miles from my house. Still have some decent drifts to navigate. 20180428_151412copy.jpg This road continues a couple miles to the top of the pass at 7000', but it was slow going...

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2017/2018

Finally managed to get out yesterday. Didn't find as much snow as we expected but it was still a good day. A couple spots approached 18". We actually had our first snow the weekend of September 16! It was a whopping 18" dump but couldn't get out wheeling that weekend. 20171105_124737.jpg

I went out and looked and didn't see anything on it. The guys at Wildhorses are helpful and could probably tell you.

Try this:

I''ve been running one for several years and rarely change batteries. It works well!

20161217_102638.jpg This was last weekend in my back yard. It's snowing hard today but unfortunately we got a bunch of wind this week so it's doubtful if we can get out wheeling. Between the snowmobiles and the drifts I think we're already done for the season until spring. We went from nothing to a...

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

I managed to get out also. First snow of the season for us, it's been pretty dry so far. I switched from 33" TSLs to 35" KM2s this year and so far I really like them. It was a good day until my buddy broke the double cardan joint on his front drive shaft. :frown: Looking great! I see in y...

Re: Snow wheeling skykomish area 2016/17

i bet we'd get record snowfall if I pull my transmission. Ha, I hurried up and got my transfer case finished last weekend in preparation for this week's snow that was forecast for our area. Now it sounds like the snow isn't going to amount to much. Oh well, danged if you do, danged if you don't. :r...

Re: Super swamper TSL Radial

I have a set of TSLs and really like them. You are correct about the IROKS wearing quicker, it just depends how much use you plan to get out of them whether that is a factor or not. The IROKs tend to be more expensive to start with too.

Temps were in the low 20's. Supposed to be in the mid-30's this week! Might have to sneak out again this weekend.

Re: New Sneakers with Tax Refund...

Things are pretty touch and go right now. The high country is not really passable anymore, so that leaves shorter trips in the areas around my area. One suggestion is to contact https://www.facebook.com/Frontier4Wheelers/ . They do monthly rides and cover a lot more area than I do. I haven't been ou...

Re: New Sneakers with Tax Refund...

My buddy has the Cepek Extreme Country in 35x12.50-15 on his 79 Bronco and I have to say I am extremely impressed with the snow wheeling performance. They look like they would work well. I've been impressed enough that if my rig spent a lot of time on the street I would ditch my TSLs and consider t...

So how was it? We had a good day. Nothing but crust and sugar up high, so we ended up back in the low country powder.

Re: Rear Chains

I used to run chains all the time too, but what I've discovered with bigger tires and lockers is that not only do I not really need them, but there is far less tendency to accidentally dig yourself in.

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 12/19

Looks great! I missed out as I had eye surgery Thursday and the snowmobiles are hammering roads pretty hard this weekend, so it's probably going to get tough to get around.
