Re: Wheeling Tomorrow

Also be careful if you go to Lake 22... someone died in an avalanche on the trail on Wednesday. Although the NWAC hazard is low/moderate, there are some really dangerous slopes right now and I hear that trail is pretty exposed. Ohh, I didn't hear about that. I'll have to look it up. We decided we'r...

Re: Wheeling Tomorrow

I've already committed to going snowshoeing tomorrow. I know it's way below your level, but you're welcome to join. Mostly likely Lake 22 or Heather Lake. The snow on Sunday was getting pretty sugary. I suspect it's really bad after the last several days of arctic air we've had. Needs some time to c...

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

Here's a few from yesterday. Went up Boardman Lake road to do a little sledding with the family. It was white knuckle drive out the Mountain Loop. I had to clean my shorts and air down just out of Granite Falls. http://www.snowtrek.org/snow-wheeling-20170101/snow-01.jpg I really need a roof rack or ...

Re: Mount Pilchuck Lookout buried in snow

EBSTEVE was up there about a month ago, he said the door was secured with a cable and you'd need a screwdriver to open it. My feeling is as long as it's left as it was found, then it's open  It would be quite a slog up the road though. I think I still have enough youth in me to get up there i...

Mount Pilchuck Lookout buried in snow

Snohomish County sheriff took this photo of the Mount Pilchuck lookout a week or two ago. I'd love to camp out in there for a night!

Interior/Roll Cage Light

I'm looking for an interior light for my Bronco. Something that mounts to a cage or? I think I'd like something purpose built that has a switch on the light itself so passengers can turn it on if necessary. I'd probably prefer hard-wired, but something battery powered, and possibly portable could be...

Re: WA: New Years Day snow wheeling

Not sure if I want to get that late of a start. The snow seems great right now. The cold air mass moving in is going to turn the snow to sugar in the coming week. This weekend should be really good everywhere.

Re: Trip Report: Snow Wheeling 2016/2017

Took the family up Green Mountain today hoping to get some sledding in. Initially missed the turn up the mountain and ended up at the closed bridge on the back side. Back tracked and headed up the correct road. :rolleyes2: Very few people up there. I ran into a small group coming down. Non-driver in...

Wow, that sounds like no fun at all.

I'm just thinking low key as usual. Something hwy 2 north. I'd prefer out by Darrington or north to avoid any traffic.

Going to be late for school

We got a dusting of snow last night. Robo call woke us up at 5am to notify that school will be 2 hour late start. Might be a little more for some kids in our district.

Took me a moment before I noticed.

I tried to move your post, but it gets added as the first post since its older. There might be a way, but I it will be easier to just repost.

It sucks when can get on top of the crust, but one wrong move and you're in bottomless sugar snow. Very difficult to get back on top!
