1/28/17 Shuksan Attempt

Tried to get up Shuksan today, turned around at about 6000ft due to poor avalanche conditions. Pretty great ski conditions.

Wow. Looks awesome. Was the avalanche danger high, or did you see stuff you didn't like?

The NWAC forecast was moderate (2/5 on the scale, pretty typical relatively safe forecast but reserves the possibility for isolated areas of dangerous terrain, low is very rare in winter). There was a slope that failed column tests with a clean shear layer below a roughly 4" thick wind slab and propagated cracks.
