Anything south of Oympia?

Post by exmetrodriver »

Hello, new here. Looking for something new to check out south of Oly in the Centralia Chehalis area. I'm looking for something other then Capital forest. Just looking for some easy stuff till I get a new rig.

I'm not familiar with what's open down there, but I think you should have a lot of options once the snow starts falling. What I've always done is break out a map and look for interesting destinations over 4,000 feet.

I've seen snow runs up to Lonesome Lake (4,800 feet?). I also took a quick spin on Google Earth and found High Hut which looks to have some sort of structure at the top (4,700 feet), and Griffin Mountain (5,200 feet). There seems to be a ton of roads down there which should have great views of Mount Rainier, just not sure what's actually open...
