Who's going snow wheelin New Years Day?

Post by Nobody »

It's a long standing tradition that I go snow wheelin New Years day. Often referred to as the "Hangover Run". About 15-20 years ago there used to be one big organized hangover run in our area. Now there are so many people out that day that we pretty much do our own thing. Otherwise it just turns into a big traffic jam. Regardless, it's fun to get out.

Doesn't look like we'll have much fresh snow in the Pacific Northwest this year, although it will only take one good night of heavy snow to change that. I've got my fingers crossed.

So who's going?

We are heading out early on New Years Day in hopes of finding some deep snow. My son came in from North Dakota last week and we went out to scout some trails for our Hangover run. Pretty slim pickins around here until we got to about 4000' or so and then we found some deeper stuff. The local weather forecaster is calling for precipitation next Thursday that will hopefully bring some fresh snow to our area, and boy do we need it. What a difference a year can make, last New Years run guys were getting stuck messing around at the gas station where we meet.......ah, good times.
