Well here is another run to join in on if you so desire. Meet at Finney-Cumberland RD 9AM. Room for about 4 tow/trailer combos. You can also park at the parking area just as you turn on to South Skagit Hwy. 12.1 Miles from parking to Finney-Cumberland. Destination(s) depends on snow conditions.

Everyone ready? It's c'c'cold up there. 19 degrees at my house this morning. Hopefully the sugar layer isn't too deep. Otherwise, it should be a nice sunny day.

I am looking forward to it! Talking to Dion and he said he went up the other day trying to get to the gravel pit and came up short. will be interesting to see the snow conditions.

Sure. I'm not sure how many are going, but I think it's just a few of us. I do recommend at least one locker and 35" tire minimum. The snow is pretty unforgiving at the moment.

I was in the area with the family yesterday. Didn't go up the mountain though. It's pretty crappy snow down low, but I was getting around ok. We need to it warm up and compact a bit before the next blast.

Anyone know what the conditions are where you're going? Not really interested if it's rutted out channels of ice. Hasn't snowed in a while.

I think it's going to be pretty sugary. Breaking trail will probably be pretty slow. Should be clear and cold with some nice views if we can make it far enough.

I'll come. Never been here, meeting on the side of the highway at the turn off? https://www.google.com/maps/place/48%C2 ... !1s0x0:0x0

That's it. If you don't see anyone at the turn off, head up the gravel road 1/4-1/2 mile. Depends where they unload the trailers.

So how was it? We had a good day. Nothing but crust and sugar up high, so we ended up back in the low country powder.

We were in the sugar too. Some of the Crystals were half the size of my pinky. We were breaking trail very very slowly and fell far short of the top of the mountain. There was probably only 18" of new snow, so we weren't really pushing any snow, just couldn't get any traction at all. I kept hoping get around the mountain into the sun hoping for better traction, but we never made it. We probably would have been stopped by some pretty big drifts regardless. Need that base to setup. I took a couple pictures, but not many. I just haven't had a chance to sit down at the computer. At least you found some sun! What was the temp?
