Trip Report: West of Snoq. Pass on 90

Post by pirateflag »

Started at 1,300ft made it to about 2,300ft.
35s on 15s @ 5psi
Snow looked wetter than it was. Cruised probably halfway through the elevation and then forward progress was made 20-30yds at a time by backing up and ramming at 5-15mph.
Turned into more work than it was worth as we were just looking to cruise. Could have winched up the inclines and crawled the flat spots.
All terrains did far better than KM2's in 35s on 17s at same psi.
Forgot to say: first tracks the entire way and started about 3pm.

Returned to the same spot.
6-9pm. Same two vehicles. Same psi.
Trail leveled out at about 2,300ft.
Top layer of snow was medium-icy and 8-12 inches of powder underneath.
Quite possibly no new snow; passed our original progress with ease. New progress was also fairly easy.
Tracks older than our original route may have made it easier because of compacted snow underneath; not sure.
Two uphills needed to be rammed, back up, ram, repeat, etc.
