12-21-14 - Snowpocalypse

Post by n16ht5 »

Finally got to ride the Timbersled off the road... Mind blowing awesome

There was hardly any snow till 4,000ft. Four feet deep at 5,000ft~. Did a little skiing, but the snow wasn't very conductive to ski in well. Riding on the other hand was really fun. I don't have any desire to snow wheel my 4runner any more

Snow was sketchy to say the least though.. Anything that could slide was sliding, so we stuck to the lower flanks of the mountain. I stopped here on a slide, with a larger one 200yds in front of me.

I can't fault you for giving up on snow wheeling when you can find great snow nearly year round by other more practical means that aren't all gated off. You still need to get the family out though, so don't give up on the 4Runner just yet.

Looks like a great trip! The avalanches are a little spooky though!

Oh the runner isn't going anywhere, yep will need it for family runs! Took Julia for a sled ride up to Segelson in the runner.. no snow until 4k, pretty underwhelming.
