I noticed the shovels were $XX.79. I wonder if this will be it for the season or if they are going to be getting in an improved/updated model?

I've got a hunch that the shovels in stock now are actually from last year.

I'm quite certain they are. So, will they replace them with an updated model or bring in some other snow tool/impliment? A little buyers remorse is setting in thinking they will bring in a better model.

I wouldn't have any buyers remorse. Especially at the current price. Last year was the first year I recall seeing them. Even if they do come back, they'd be more expensive, probably not much better, and most likely a different color or something. If they had carried them for more than one season, I'd expect them back again, but it's hard to say for this year.

Edit: the lifeline shovels sold online may be the updated model, and $29.99 price

I bought a set of shovels, it will fit in my pack, it's light and perfect for hiking IMO. Nobody you can have the other one for your pack, for the ankle bitters or for igloo building version 2.0, call it am early x-mas present.

Stopped by the Federal Way, WA Costco today. I was surprised to see something from First Ascent!

Eddie Bauer First Ascent Down Vest - $79.99
I'm not a vest person, and I don't think this is a particularly good deal, but I hope Costco gets more First Ascent gear in the future.

Kirkland Men's 1/4 zip 100% Merino Wool sweater - $14.97
I bought one of these. Just can't beat the price. It's not machine washable, but it rarely needs to be washed. It's wool!
Image

Ladies Helly Hansen 1/4 zip Fleece - $34.99
These are really nice. Not really a good deal, but I'd love to see Costco get more Helly Hansen gear.

The Motorola MT351R 2-way Radio's are on sale. - $59.99
I've been eyeballing these for a couple years. Decided to jump on this deal and buy a set. From the research I've done, they seem to have very positive feedback. I like that I can easily charge them via USB, or use standard AA batteries.

The MT351R seems to be the Costco equivalent of the Motorola MT350R available elsewhere.

The Costco winter inventory purge has started over the last week. They don't even wait for the first day of winter. Now it's time to watch out for Clearance deals.

I stopped by the Burlington, Wa Costco last night and they had Eddie Bauer First Ascent 800 fill down jackets for $99. The price tag was marked with a *, which means they are "marked for delete". They also still had plenty of the Kirland 800 fill down jackets for $40??, which is an awesome deal.

On the way out, I was surprised to see a Polaris snowmobile. Costco price was a mere $12k! Doh!
