Hangover Run 2011 - Todays Snow Wheeling pics

Post by Nobody »

Once again we started out the new year snow wheeling. Today was a beautiful day in the North Cascade Mountains. The snow was some brutal surgar snow. Even with our tires aired down to 2 PSI, it was difficult to stay on top of the snow. We called it a day a few hundred feet in elevation from the summit. Looking forward to some fresh snow in 2011!

Yeah, that is a huge drift. No way we would have made it through there. And it does look like Steve got some air coming down that hill.

Ryan.

It was another great new years day run. I wish there could have been a few of the regulars there but Ryan was great and I look forward to wheeling with you guys again.
I am about 99% sure that the back came off the ground as well but the picture does not look as steep as it did from my seat!

My first or second time down?
If you look there is air under the far tire and no tracks under the close one.....

Both! You definately got a little air both times. I don't think I snapped the pic at the exact high point. I got the first one on video, but I wasn't zoomed in.

I got right below I think. Started having trouble staying afloat and didnt want to get stuck if you had already left. that snow was nasty. got there at 11 and headed back at 130 or so. I thought I could hear trucks, but no answer on the CB 1-8 or phone. I guess thats what I get for staying up too late.. I slept through both alarms and my friend calling me to get going. what CB channel are you guys on?

We usually run Channel 4. Steve's radio doesn't work for shit and I was having a problem with mine. When I got home I discovered that my antenna was about to fall off. You can see it wobbling around in the video...lol. Cell coverage is spotty up there. I don't really use cell phones anyway. Just for emergencies really.

It was some tough snow. We were all down to 2 PSI and that still wasn't enough.

(Un)fortunately, I have one of those job things during the week. I probably won't go again for serveral weeks. Certainly not until there is some good snow. Looks like we're going to have some serious artic air moving in. Forecasting lows of -1 to 1 degrees.

Yeah, I hadn't seen surgar snow like that in many years. Kinda sounded water spraying when driving through it. Some spots we could work up on the crust and go, but if you had to back up, or pass over the same spot more than a couple times you just dropped in. I almost got stuck in a little bowl at one point. The peer pressure got me out. :redneck:
