4 Season Tent

I'm in the market for a four season tent. I "think" I want a 3 person tent to accommodate 2 people and gear. I want something that is light enough for backpacking, and rated for places with high wind or possible snow load. Is there a particular tent that is very popular? Are 4 season tents really needed for less extreme winter conditions? Any tent reviews, recommendations, or experiences would be appeciated.
