Event: New Years Day 2013 Hangover Run

Post by Nobody »

This is the official announcement of our unofficial New Years Day Snow Wheeling Run. We will be hitting the logging roads in the hills outside of Sedro Wooley. Last year we were shut down due to a massive land slide, so I will be head up tomorrow to make sure it's open this year.

There has been a lot of recent snow accumulation, so we may not be able to make it very far.

The first part of the road is very steep, along a steep mountain side. If this sort of thing bothers you, or you are not confident in these conditions, this probably is not the run for you.

If you don't have much snow wheeling experience, we will help you the best that we can, but please don't expect the group to turn around.

Everyone should expect to run below 5psi in their tires, and have a way to air up again. If you have never run low pressure, this probably isn't the time to find out if your tire/wheel combo will hold a bead.

Be prepared for winter conditions!

I think that covers the negative nancy stuff... if you still want to go, we'll be meeting at the park-n-ride at Highway 9 and South Skagit Highway. We will be leaving at 9:00am.

Great!

OK, if anyone wants to tag along tomorrow, that's fine, but there is a very high probability that the road is closed because of a skidder blocking the road. Will leave the pnr at 9am.

Well, the road was blocked by an excavator that lost a track. I'm hopeful that they will be out of there by New Years day. I probably won't be able to check again. Should be a lot of fun if we can make it!

Nice to meet you Mike and Criss.

I think it's just the three of us, maybe one more. Do you have any snowshoes? Looks like it will be an awesome day. You might be breaking trail for us this time. Will this be a shakedown run for you?
