For me it really depends on who is going, and how far out we're going. We're pretty fortunate in that we don't have to travel too far, so if something really goes wrong, help isn't too far off. But for the snow, a shovel is a must, as is a hi-lift jack and a tow strap or two. I've been leaving the spare tire at home quite a bit since I don't really have room for it when my back seat is in. I always bring spare clothes and rain/snow gear. A road flare is good for starting an emergency fire.

I always have my bag of tools as well. I can't believe how many people we've loaned tools to on the trail over the years. I also carry some parts for the 5.0L. Can't fix TFI modules and relays on the trail!

I'd really like to start gearing up for some multi-day snowruns. Once I get a full cage, I'll be able to start securing some semi permanent supplies. Usually between 2 or 3 three of us we have what we need.

I'd like to know what other people bring as well. I'm sure there is a lot of good stuff that's easy to pack and could save the day.

Most stuff has been covered but here are a few that I did not see mentioned.
I try to always have a tarp, it's nice to lay on if you have to and it can keep your tools visible if they are out. I once forgot my chainsaw and ever since I don't go without an ax, if the saw dies I want a way out! Spare valve stems and cores are a must, if you drop a core airing down and you don't have a spare it's trouble and they don't take up any space. Power steering fluid and a hose to bypass the steering box, if you have hydroboost like me then it's what keeps the brakes working on the way down the mountain.

Several of us in our group carry snowshoes. Most of the time you can hitch a ride out with your buddy but if you have to walk out, they can save you life. Alot faster, drier, and saves alot of energy compared to walking in deep snow without them.

Agreed. Snowshoes are an excellent addition. I should have bought a pair years ago.
